The stri_sub() function takes 3 arguments, the first one is a string, second is start position, third is end position.
Here is an example, that gets the last 3 characters from a string:
library(stringi)name = 'apple'lastThree = stri_sub(name,-3)print(lastThree)
Output:
[1] "ple"
Note: The negative values count backward from the last character, so in above example -3 returns last 3 characters.
You can also get the last 2 characters of a string like this:
library(stringi)name = 'apple'lastTwo = stri_sub(name,-2)print(lastTwo)
Output:
[1] "le"
